Can you make regular washer and dryer stackable? Any washer or dryer can be made stackable using a washer/dryer stacking kit. Many manufacturers create stacking kits for their washers and dryers, so before buying a new one, if space is an issue, ensure that yours can be made stackable.
Can any front load washer and dryer be stacked? Not all front-loaders are stackable, and a top-load washer can’t be stacked. You’ll also need to purchase a stacking bracket kit to secure the dryer to the top of the washer.
Is there a downside to stacking washer and dryer? Con: Less Loading Capabilities
As previously mentioned, your stackable washer and dryer will have less room inside of them for each load of laundry. That limited room is a double-edged sword: it’s good for saving on your energy bill but bad for the amount of laundry you can do.
Do you have to vent a stackable dryer? Stackable washers and dryers typically still need a vent. While they are compact and save space, most are still designed to vent to the outside. If you live someplace where venting just isn’t possible, like an apartment, don’t give up yet.
