Can a Pendleton blanket be washed? Washing combines heat, detergents and agitation, which will shrink the blanket and ruin it. Pendleton wool blankets should only be dry-cleaned. The exception is the washable Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool® bedding line. These blankets and throws have been specially treated to be machine washable.
Can I wash a Pendleton wool blanket at home? Yes, most of the time. Know that, if you are going to be washing a 100% wool blanket, whether it is worn vintage or a harder weave, like Pendleton wool, you will have to be very gentle with it. Use only cold water and select a wool-friendly detergent, but more on that later.
How do you wash a wool blanket without dry cleaning? The General Rule for all pure wool blankets is to always wash in cold water and gently wring or roll. A hand wash or delicate wash cycle and low-action washer spin on modern appliances can produce a good result.
How do you clean a fluffy Pendleton blanket? Place the blanket in your washer and run a cold, delicate cycle with your usual detergent. If your washer doesn’t have a gentle option, use the lowest spin setting. Avoid chlorine bleach, and skip any fabric softeners. Air-dry the blanket on a rack or clothesline.
